Jon’s earliest artistic success came at the age of six, when a watercolour painting of a black cat was proudly displayed on the wall of his school in Raynes Park. That early recognition marked the beginning of a lifelong connection with art.
He later studied at Wimbledon School of Art and the City Literary Institute, where he was mentored by artist James Burr. During this period, Jon exhibited his work in galleries in Wimbledon Village, where he lived, and built a strong foundation through private sales and commissioned pieces.
In subsequent years, and after an early retirement as a building surveyor, Jon expanded his creative practice internationally, living and working in Thailand as a writer and illustrator for an English publisher, before continuing his journey in the Philippines.
He returned to the UK in 2017 and is now based in Aberdeen, where he has refocused on painting and continues to evolve his distinctive artistic voice. While his earlier work drew inspiration from Dalí, Picasso, and the Impressionists, his more recent pieces reflect a growing fascination with vintage Paris and the photographic archive of Albert Kahn.
